The STRIVE team’s Eghosa Adodo (a Duke medical student) and Ashley Jowell (a Duke resident) presented these posters as part of “Digestive Disease Week” in Chicago, IL, May 2-5, 2026.
Ashley’s poster was titled “Exploring the Impact of Social and Environmental Vulnerabilities on Liver Disease: A Southern Liver Health Study (STRIVE) Cohort Study”
Eghosa’s poster was titled “Urinary Cannabinoid Metabolite Levels in Cirrhosis: A Cross-Sectional Analysis of the Southern Liver Health Study (STRIVE)”
Megan Bruns, an MPH student in Epidemiology, received third place at a Research Day Poster Competition in 2026 for her work on 10KFS. Her project “Determinants of Radon Testing in Minnesota” found that knowledge about Radon was the primary determinant of successful Radon testing in 10KFS.
The SEHS team has presented this poster, “The Southern Environmental Health Study: A comprehensive investigation of Environmental Exposures and Cancer risk” at several conferences, most recently at the Meharry Vanderbilt Tennessee State University Cancer Partnership Symposium on February 8, 2025.
The STRIVE study’s Nikia Smith presented this poster, “Blood Levels of Toxic Metals Associated with Chronic Liver Disease and Liver Injury,” at the 75th annual AASLD The Liver Meeting in San Diego, CA from November 15-19, 2024.
